A chalazion develops when drainage from a meibomian gland is blocked and usually appears as a firm lump within the eyelid. Small chalazia may resolve without surgery, while persistent or larger lesions may require surgical treatment. At Ahvar Clinic, treatment is selected by the ophthalmologist after examination.
What it addresses / benefits
- diagnosis of an eyelid lesion
- conservative treatment when appropriate
- surgical treatment when indicated
- assessment of recurrent lesions
- monitoring of eyelid condition.
Preparation
An ophthalmologist examination is required. The lesion should not be opened or traumatized at home.
How the procedure is performed
The doctor evaluates the size, location, and duration of the chalazion. Observation, medical treatment, or surgery may be recommended depending on the situation.
Result / recovery
Temporary swelling and local tenderness may occur after surgical treatment. Reassessment is important if the lesion recurs.
