A cataract is a loss of transparency of the natural lens and may lead to reduced contrast, blurred vision, and progressive visual impairment. A formed cataract cannot be removed with medication. When it has a significant effect on vision, surgery is performed to replace the cloudy lens with an artificial intraocular lens. At Ahvar Clinic, the IOL type and surgical strategy are selected after diagnostic testing and biometric measurements.
What it addresses / benefits
- cataract diagnosis
- assessment of its impact on vision
- calculation of an intraocular lens
- surgical removal of the cloudy natural lens
- individualized selection of IOL type.
Preparation
Ophthalmic assessment and biometric eye measurements are performed before surgery to calculate the IOL. The doctor reviews associated diseases, medications, and the condition of the fellow eye.
How the procedure is performed
The cloudy natural lens is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens. The surgical technique and IOL model are selected individually.
Result / recovery
Vision recovers gradually after surgery. Prescribed eye drops and scheduled follow-up examinations are required during the postoperative period.
