Visual acuity testing is one of the fundamental methods of assessing visual function, but it does not by itself identify the cause of reduced vision. If an abnormality is detected, the ophthalmologist may recommend refraction testing, fundus examination, or other investigations. At Ahvar Clinic, visual acuity testing may be performed independently or as part of comprehensive diagnostics.
What it addresses / benefits
- measurement of visual acuity
- separate assessment of each eye
- evaluation of the effect of optical correction
- detection of reduced visual function
- monitoring of vision over time.
Preparation
No special preparation is required. Patients who wear glasses should bring them to the examination.
How the procedure is performed
The patient identifies letters, symbols, or images on a standardized chart from a specified distance. Each eye is tested separately.
Result / recovery
The result is recorded as a visual acuity value and interpreted together with other ophthalmic findings.

Ophthalmologist Consultation
An ophthalmologist consultation provides a comprehensive assessment of symptoms, vision, and eye health to determine the need for diagnostics, treatment, or follow-up.

Comprehensive vision diagnostics combines appropriate tests to assess visual acuity, refraction, intraocular pressure, and other relevant eye parameters.
Learn moreLaser Vision Correction
Laser vision correction changes the optical properties of the cornea to correct refractive errors and reduce dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

A cataract is clouding of the eye’s natural lens. When vision is significantly affected, the main treatment is surgical replacement of the cloudy lens with an artificial IOL.
