Prostate ultrasound is used to assess the dimensions, structure, and selected abnormalities of the prostate gland. It may be recommended for urinary symptoms, prostate enlargement, follow-up of previously identified changes, and as part of a comprehensive urological assessment. At Ahvar Clinic, the examination technique is selected according to the clinical question.

What it addresses / benefits

  • assessment of prostate size
  • evaluation of gland structure
  • detection of selected masses and structural changes
  • support in assessing urinary symptoms
  • follow-up over time.

Preparation

Preparation depends on the examination technique. A full bladder is usually required for transabdominal ultrasound. Specific instructions are provided in advance.

How the procedure is performed

The examination may be performed transabdominally or by another appropriate approach depending on the clinical objective. The doctor evaluates prostate dimensions and echostructure.

Result / recovery

The patient receives an ultrasound report. Findings are interpreted by the urologist together with symptoms, examination, and other diagnostic data.
