Liver ultrasound is a non-invasive examination used for abnormal laboratory findings, abdominal symptoms, and follow-up of previously identified changes. Ultrasound findings alone do not always establish a final diagnosis and should be interpreted together with laboratory and clinical information. At Ahvar Clinic, the examination may be performed for specific indications or as part of broader diagnostic assessment.
What it addresses / benefits
- assessment of liver size
- evaluation of parenchymal structure
- detection of selected focal lesions
- assessment of fatty and other diffuse changes
- follow-up over time.
Preparation
The examination is often recommended after fasting, particularly when other abdominal organs are being assessed at the same time. Exact instructions should be confirmed in advance.
How the procedure is performed
The liver is examined with an ultrasound probe through the abdominal and right flank regions.
Result / recovery
The patient receives a report describing liver dimensions and sonographic structure.
