Intraocular pressure is an important parameter in glaucoma diagnosis and follow-up, but one pressure measurement alone is not sufficient to diagnose glaucoma. Different patients may have different levels of optic nerve risk at the same pressure measurement. At Ahvar Clinic, tonometry results are interpreted together with other ophthalmic findings.
What it addresses / benefits
- measurement of intraocular pressure
- glaucoma risk assessment
- monitoring of pressure over time
- assessment of treatment effectiveness
- objective diagnostic measurement.
Preparation
Special preparation is usually not required. Patients should inform the doctor about eye drops currently being used and previous eye surgery.
How the procedure is performed
Intraocular pressure is measured using a tonometer. The exact technique depends on the equipment available.
Result / recovery
The measurement is interpreted together with optic nerve condition, corneal thickness, and other clinical findings.
