Hair Transplantation

PRP Therapy After Hair Transplant

PRP therapy is an injection-based procedure using platelet-rich plasma prepared from the patient’s own blood and may be included in comprehensive hair-care programs.

PRP therapy, or platelet-rich plasma therapy, uses the patient’s own blood. After specialized processing, plasma containing a higher concentration of platelets is prepared and injected into selected areas of the scalp. In hair-loss management, PRP may be used as one component of a broader treatment strategy for reduced hair density. After hair transplantation, it may be considered as an additional element of an individualized follow-up and scalp-care program, depending on the patient’s condition and recovery. At Ahvar Clinic, PRP therapy is included after hair transplantation only when considered appropriate by the specialist after examination. It is not automatically prescribed to every patient, and the plan is based on the condition of the scalp, stage of recovery, and individual medical factors.

What it addresses / benefits

  • may be used as an additional component of post-transplant care
  • uses biological material obtained from the patient’s own blood
  • may be incorporated into programs supporting scalp and hair condition
  • the need for treatment and the treatment plan are determined individually by a specialist.

Preparation

Before PRP therapy, the condition of the scalp and the stage of recovery after transplantation are assessed. The specialist reviews medical history, current medications, and possible limitations. The appropriate timing of PRP after a hair transplant is determined individually by the treating physician.

How the procedure is performed

A small amount of venous blood is collected from the patient and processed in a centrifuge to obtain plasma with an increased concentration of platelets. The prepared plasma is then injected into selected areas of the scalp. Injection sites and the treatment protocol are determined by the specialist based on the patient’s condition and stage of post-transplant recovery.

Result / recovery

Temporary tenderness or a localized skin reaction may occur at the injection sites. PRP is not an immediate method of increasing hair density, so any changes are assessed over time. The need for repeat procedures and the intervals between them are determined individually by the doctor.
