Hernia repair is a general term for operations used to reconstruct abdominal wall defects. It may be performed through an open, laparoscopic, or another minimally invasive approach. Surgical mesh is used when appropriate rather than in every case. At Ahvar Clinic, the specific technique is selected after surgical assessment.
What it addresses / benefits
- repair of a hernia defect
- restoration of the abdominal wall
- open or minimally invasive access
- possible use of surgical mesh
- individualized choice of technique.
Preparation
The surgeon evaluates the type, size, and location of the hernia and performs standard preoperative assessment. Previous surgery and other clinical factors are also considered.
How the procedure is performed
The hernia contents are returned to the abdominal cavity, and the defect is surgically closed. Mesh reinforcement may be used in selected cases.
Result / recovery
Physical activity is gradually resumed after surgery. Recovery time depends on the hernia type and surgical approach.
