Intrauterine devices are long-acting reversible contraceptive methods. The choice of device depends on medical factors and the patient’s preferences. At Ahvar Clinic, insertion is performed after gynecological assessment and discussion of the characteristics of the selected method.
What it addresses / benefits
- long-term contraception
- no need for daily medication
- reversible method
- choice of hormonal or non-hormonal device
- possibility of removal when desired.
Preparation
A consultation is performed before insertion, pregnancy is excluded, and possible contraindications or signs of infection are assessed. Additional tests are ordered when indicated.
How the procedure is performed
The IUD is passed through the cervical canal and positioned in the uterine cavity using a dedicated inserter. Correct placement is then assessed.
Result / recovery
Cramping and light bleeding may occur during the first days. Duration of contraceptive action and menstrual changes depend on the type of IUD.
