Vaginoplasty

Vaginoplasty is reconstructive surgery of vaginal tissues, with the extent of treatment determined by a specific anatomical or functional defect.

The term “vaginoplasty” is used for several different reconstructive procedures, so the exact surgical scope should be defined before treatment. Operations performed for functional indications should be distinguished from procedures marketed solely for cosmetic “rejuvenation.” Evidence for purely cosmetic procedures is limited, and potential risks include pain, scarring, altered sensation, and dyspareunia. At Ahvar Clinic, surgical planning is individualized.

What it addresses / benefits

  • tissue reconstruction after trauma or childbirth
  • correction of selected anatomical defects
  • restoration of vaginal tissues for medical indications
  • individualized surgical scope
  • possibility of combination with perineal reconstruction.

Preparation

A gynecological examination is performed to define the objective of surgery. Active inflammation should be excluded, and the presence of prolapse or other functional disorders should be assessed.

How the procedure is performed

The surgeon reconstructs or modifies vaginal tissues according to the identified anatomical defect and selected surgical plan.

Result / recovery

A healing period is required after surgery. Temporary restrictions on physical activity and sexual intercourse are typically advised.
