Ultrasound of the neck vessels is a non-invasive method for imaging vascular structures and assessing blood flow. The exact scope of examination depends on the clinical question and which vascular territories need to be evaluated. At Ahvar Clinic, results are interpreted together with clinical findings.
What it addresses / benefits
- blood flow assessment
- evaluation of vascular anatomy
- detection of local flow disturbances
- assessment of vessel walls
- follow-up over time.
Preparation
Special preparation is usually not required. Previous vascular imaging results should be brought if available.
How the procedure is performed
The ultrasound probe is positioned over different areas of the neck. Vessels are assessed using B-mode imaging and Doppler flow analysis.
Result / recovery
A report is generated describing the examined vessels and identified abnormalities.
