Duplex ultrasound is a key method for assessing venous reflux and mapping venous anatomy before most procedures for varicose veins. Combining consultation with ultrasound allows symptoms to be directly correlated with the venous anatomy and blood flow findings. At Ahvar Clinic, the scope of examination is selected according to the clinical objective.
What it addresses / benefits
- consultation and diagnostics during one visit
- detection of venous reflux
- assessment of venous patency
- mapping of varicose veins
- treatment planning.
Preparation
Special preparation is usually not required. Previous vascular examination results should be brought if available.
How the procedure is performed
The doctor first reviews symptoms and performs an examination. Duplex ultrasound is then used to evaluate venous blood flow and valve function. A treatment plan is developed based on the findings.
Result / recovery
The patient receives both clinical assessment and duplex ultrasound findings, which are used to plan further management.
