Endometrial polyps are generally benign intrauterine lesions, but definitive tissue assessment is performed by histology. Hysteroscopy allows direct visualization and targeted removal of the lesion. At Ahvar Clinic, management is determined according to diagnostic findings.
What it addresses / benefits
- removal of an intrauterine polyp
- direct visual control
- collection of tissue for histology
- treatment of one possible cause of abnormal uterine bleeding
- targeted removal of the lesion.
Preparation
The polyp is usually identified by ultrasound or other diagnostic testing before treatment. Preoperative assessment is determined by the doctor.
How the procedure is performed
A hysteroscope is passed through the cervix into the uterine cavity. The polyp is visualized and removed using a specialized instrument.
Result / recovery
Mild bleeding and cramping may occur afterward. Removed tissue is submitted for histological examination.
