Diagnostic Laparoscopy

Diagnostic laparoscopy allows direct inspection of pelvic organs through a minimally invasive surgical approach.

Book an appointment →

Diagnostic laparoscopy may be used to investigate chronic pelvic pain, infertility, suspected endometriosis, or pelvic masses. Some conditions can be treated during the same operation if this has been planned and clinically appropriate. The procedure is used when the expected diagnostic benefit justifies surgical intervention.

What it addresses / benefits

  • investigation of chronic pelvic pain
  • assessment of selected causes of infertility
  • diagnosis of endometriosis
  • evaluation of pelvic adhesions
  • possibility of immediate treatment when appropriate.

Preparation

Standard preoperative assessment and anesthetic consultation are required. The indication is determined by the gynecologist.

How the procedure is performed

A laparoscope with a camera is introduced through a small incision. The doctor examines the pelvic organs and may perform an agreed therapeutic procedure if appropriate findings are identified.

Result / recovery

The patient receives information about the findings. Recovery depends on whether the procedure remained diagnostic or included treatment.
