Adhesive closure is a non-thermal endovenous technology. Unlike EVLA or radiofrequency ablation, it uses medical adhesive rather than heat to close the vein. Unilateral and bilateral procedures are volume variants of the same service.
What it addresses / benefits
- treatment of truncal venous reflux
- no thermal energy applied to the vein
- ultrasound guidance
- minimally invasive access
- individualized treatment of the GSV.
Preparation
Duplex ultrasound is performed to confirm reflux in the GSV. Allergies and previous vascular procedures should be discussed with the doctor.
How the procedure is performed
A medical adhesive is delivered through a catheter into the abnormal venous segment in controlled amounts. The vein closes and is excluded from pathological circulation.
Result / recovery
Follow-up is required to assess the treated vein. Local tenderness or inflammatory-type reactions may occur.

EVLA is a minimally invasive treatment for venous reflux in which an abnormal vein is closed from within using laser energy under ultrasound guidance.
Learn moreSclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a specialized solution into an abnormal vein to damage the inner vessel wall and promote subsequent closure.

Miniphlebectomy removes selected varicose tributaries through very small skin punctures and is often used together with treatment of truncal reflux.
