Cervical Cauterization

Cervical cauterization is a general term for local ablation of selected abnormal cervical tissue after appropriate diagnostic evaluation.

The term “cauterization” does not refer to one single modern technique. It may describe different methods of coagulation or tissue ablation. Treatment should not be performed solely on the basis of a non-specific diagnosis such as “erosion” without proper cervical assessment. At Ahvar Clinic, the method is selected only after appropriate diagnostic evaluation.

What it addresses / benefits

  • treatment of selected benign cervical changes when indicated
  • localized treatment
  • treatment only after diagnostic assessment
  • method selection according to lesion type
  • follow-up of healing.

Preparation

The nature of cervical changes should be clarified before treatment. Cytology, HPV testing, colposcopy, and biopsy may be required when indicated.

How the procedure is performed

After confirmation of the indication, the selected cervical area is treated using an appropriate coagulation or ablation technique. The exact method is determined by the doctor.

Result / recovery

Vaginal discharge may occur during healing. Follow-up is arranged according to the gynecologist’s recommendations.
