Full-thickness flaps are used for defects that require restoration of complete cover and protection of underlying structures. The technique depends on defect location and size. At Ahvar Clinic, flap selection is individualized after assessment of the defect.

What it addresses / benefits

  • closure of a deep defect
  • restoration of complete tissue cover
  • transfer of tissue with preserved blood supply
  • protection of underlying structures
  • individualized flap planning.

Preparation

Defect size and depth, condition of surrounding tissues, blood supply, and functional requirements of the area are assessed.

How the procedure is performed

The full-thickness flap is raised and transferred to the defect while preserving its blood supply, followed by layered closure.

Result / recovery

Flap viability and healing are monitored. Scars remain in both the defect and donor areas.
