The original entry “femoral nerve suture (neurolysis)” combines two different surgical objectives. Neurolysis is used when the nerve remains continuous but is compressed by scar tissue, while repair or grafting is used for structural disruption. The exact operation should therefore be documented separately at Ahvar.
What it addresses / benefits
- treatment of femoral nerve injury
- nerve release from scar-related compression
- restoration of continuity after nerve disruption
- creation of conditions for regeneration
- individualized microsurgical technique.
Preparation
Neurological and surgical assessment, localization of the injury, and electrophysiological testing when indicated are required.
How the procedure is performed
During neurolysis, the nerve is freed from surrounding scar tissue. When the nerve is disrupted, repair or reconstruction is performed depending on the defect.
Result / recovery
Nerve recovery is prolonged and depends on the severity and age of the injury. Complete functional recovery cannot be guaranteed.
