A face lift, or rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure intended to correct tissue descent and more pronounced age-related changes of the face. Depending on the technique, the operation may involve the skin as well as deeper supporting structures. The goal of surgical planning is not to change the patient’s individual facial identity, but to correct tissue changes and restore more defined contours. The extent of surgery depends on the condition of the midface, lower face, neck, and tissue quality. At Ahvar Clinic, the face-lift technique and surgical scope are selected individually after consultation with a plastic surgeon.
What it addresses / benefits
- correction of facial soft-tissue descent
- improvement of the lower-face contour
- correction of pronounced age-related changes
- individualized treatment of the face and, when appropriate, the neck.
Preparation
Before surgery, the plastic surgeon evaluates the skin, soft tissues, and facial anatomy. Medical history, previous procedures, and current medications are reviewed. Preoperative testing is determined individually.
How the procedure is performed
The surgeon creates access through carefully planned incisions. Facial tissues are repositioned and secured, and excess skin may be removed when appropriate. The depth and extent of correction depend on the chosen surgical technique.
Result / recovery
Swelling, tenderness, and temporary changes in appearance may occur after surgery. Facial contours become more stable gradually as the tissues heal. Final assessment is made over time.
