Varicocele

Varicocele is dilation of the veins of the spermatic cord and scrotum. Diagnostics help determine the severity of the changes and whether observation or surgical treatment is required.

Varicocele is a pathological dilation of the veins that drain blood from the testicle. In some men the condition causes no marked symptoms. In others, pain, a feeling of heaviness, changes in testicular size, or reproductive problems may occur. The decision to treat is based not only on the presence of dilated veins but also on symptoms, age, testicular condition, and the patient's reproductive plans. At Ahvar Clinic, evaluation begins with a specialist consultation and the necessary ultrasound diagnostics.

What it addresses / benefits

  • diagnostics of scrotal vein dilation
  • assessment of venous blood flow
  • examination for pain or discomfort
  • assessment in male infertility
  • individualized treatment strategy selection.

Preparation

The first step is a urologist or andrologist consultation. Scrotal ultrasound with Doppler is prescribed when indicated, and semen analysis and other tests are performed when infertility is being evaluated.

How the procedure is performed

The doctor performs an examination and assesses the dilated veins. Ultrasound with Doppler clarifies the anatomy and blood flow pattern. Surgical or endovascular treatment methods may be considered when indicated.

Result / recovery

Not every varicocele requires surgery. After treatment, recovery time depends on the selected method. In infertility, changes in semen parameters are assessed over time.
